Campaign Story

For some families, the fight does not end at the hospital door.

Every day, thousands of people come to AIIMS Delhi from different parts of the country for the treatment of their loved ones.

Inside the hospital, a family member may be fighting for their life.

Outside the hospital, their family may be fighting hunger.

Medical treatment can consume whatever little money they have. Many families cannot afford accommodation and are forced to stay on footpaths or outside the hospital.

And then comes the most basic question:

“Where will we get our next meal?”

For the last 14 years, National NGO Delhi has been working to answer that question.

Every morning, fresh and nutritious food is prepared in the organisation’s kitchen. The team then takes the food to people waiting outside AIIMS and serves them a wholesome meal of dal, rice, roti and vegetables.

Today, the team serves approximately 700–800 needy people every day.

For someone who has been hungry all day, a simple meal is not just food.

It is relief. It is dignity. It is hope.

Why We Need Your Help

The need is growing every day, but our resources are limited.

There are times when the food runs out before everyone can be served, leaving some people with empty hands and empty stomachs.

At present, the organisation transports the prepared food using an auto-rickshaw. This makes daily distribution difficult and limits the number of people who can be reached.

We urgently need a Food Van to transport and distribute freshly prepared meals more efficiently.

Regular support is also required for ration, kitchen expenses, staff salaries and kitchen rent so that this daily food service can continue without interruption.
